Emburse Expands Spend Analytics Capability with Acquisition of DVI

LOS ANGELES & VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Mar. 16, 2021 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Emburse, a global leader in expense management and accounts payable automation solutions, announces that it has acquired travel data expert DVI (Data Visualization Intelligence) to deepen its analytics expertise and capabilities in travel and corporate spend.

With DVI’s technology, Emburse can empower organizations to optimize their travel programs by unlocking the potential of their data. Customers will gain real-time visibility into large, complex data sets, significantly enhancing T&E spend management, program compliance, and supplier negotiations. DVI’s technology enables organizations to analyze every type of travel spend–such as flights, hotels, rental cars, and meals–including trips arranged by a corporate travel agency and those booked outside a company’s approved tools, ensuring a full and accurate picture of spend. Companies can monitor traveler destinations and compare this data against local and global COVID hotspots, to help track potential exposure while on a trip, and make more informed employee care decisions.

“We’re thrilled to build upon our platform capabilities with the addition of DVI. This enables us to provide customers with even more sophisticated data analysis, which continues to grow in importance for business travelers and the finance teams that support them,” said Eric Friedrichsen, CEO of Emburse. “As organizations around the world return to increased business travel, employee safety and cost control will remain a critical issue. Granular visibility into spend patterns, identifying pockets of wasteful or inefficient spend, and minimizing out-of-policy transactions, will be essential for organizations to successfully emerge from the economic downturn.”

“This acquisition strengthens our analytics capabilities and provides customers with comprehensive data and insights to increase control and make smarter spend decisions. Adding DVI’s technology and talented team will be essential in helping us innovate rapidly and deliver rich solutions for the 14,000 customers around the world that rely on Emburse. We’re excited to bring on the DVI team to help organizations better manage their business travel and PO-based purchases,” continued Friedrichsen.

Emburse recently launched Emburse Insight Advisor, a managed services solution that enables organizations to maximize the impact of their spend data. The solution delivers sophisticated custom report authoring and analytics capabilities, combined with a designated team of consultants that can help create reports and provide expert advice into industry trends, KPIs, and benchmarks. With DVI’s technology, the company will bring even more sophisticated and powerful spend insights to its customers.

“Emburse has built an excellent reputation for helping organizations better manage and control spend, so we’re thrilled that we can be part of its continued journey,” said Brian Beard, president and CEO at DVI. “In addition to companies understanding their own spend patterns, DVI is able to help corporate travel teams benchmark their lodging and transportation spend. This enables more effective vendor contract negotiations and policy creation. Combining this insight with Emburse’s expertise in spend management will provide a very compelling offering for any organization that wants to better understand and control its spend.”

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
